All the coins above aren't ugly. They are damaged. The only truly ugly coin I've seen is this one: LIBERTY looks like she's seen a ghost
I have this 1880-CC coming back from PCGS right now in a genuine holder w/ UNC Details. It was in a GSA holder w/ just a bit of environmental damage. Must have been in a fire!
I showed my ex a picture of a rather worn 1793 cent and it actually scared her. She called it the "nightmare penny," lol.
Away from the ugly, towards the creepy... The controversial headless statues debuted at the LA Coliseum for the 1984 Olympics...
Look what I found on the bay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1877-Trade-Dollar-89880-/351689201864?hash=item51e24f58c8:g:NYIAAOSwll1Ww6s0
Whoever was grading your coin was probably high at the time, in what world does that coin have UNC details?
Actually, it does have UNC details. Just really hard to tell from the photo and even difficult to tell in hand. But the coin was submitted in an original black GSA holder that said Uncirculated Silver Dollar right on it... so it was most certainly an UNC coin before the fire and the "environmental damage" didn't change that... just muted the luster a bit Had a customer give me this coin to get graded for him Funny stuff!!
