Need help ..What is this????

    this is a 1983 penny and Ive tried to include the best pics i could take . it appears like a 3d image of Lincoln IMAG0836.jpg IMAG0837.jpg IMAG0838.jpg IMAG0836.jpg IMAG0837.jpg IMAG0838.jpg seated inside the memorial? has anyone else seen something like this?

    First, welcome to the neighborhood!

    You need to be aware that the Mint began using copper-coated zinc planchets in 1982, and it is not unusual for the copper plating to deteriorate in the form of bubbles and delamination.

    This is so common that it should be one's first assumption whenever you see anything similar on a 1982 or later Cent. It's rather "cute" that it happened just around the statue; I suspect the "complexity" of the detail in that area helped to delaminate the zinc and clad layers from each other, making bubbling all the more likely.
