Livia is one of the main characters in the whole "barnum" of the early Roman Empire, linked she was to almost every emperor of the first century : Livia Drusilla (30 January 58 BC – 28 September 29 AD), also known as Julia Augusta after her formal adoption into the Julian family in AD 14, was the wife of the Roman emperor Augustus throughout his reign, as well as his adviser. She was the mother of the emperor Tiberius, paternal grandmother of the emperor Claudius, paternal great-grandmother of the emperor Caligula, and maternal great-great-grandmother of the emperor Nero. She was deified by Claudius who acknowledged her title of Augusta (Wikipedia) Adding a coin of hers to my trays has been a goal for almost twenty years, but finding an example that would be either decent and afordable is really something difficult. At least here's one more chick in my gallery Livia (+ AD 29), Dupondius Rome mint, AD 22-23 under the reign of Tiberius SALVS AVGVSTA, draped bust of Salus (Livia) right TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVG P M TR POT XXIIII, around large S C 13.90 g, 27 mm,. FANTASTIC capture @Cucumbor ! Congratulations for finding it after a long journey! Well worth it. She was an awesome woman... With her husband she helped bring peace and stability to the Empire after a long and rough road... strong woman.
Nice and with a big & lovely portrait. I just have a expensive little provincial. Livia (30 B.C. - 29 A.D) IONIA, Ephesos Grammateus Aristeas, magistrate Æ 16 O: Draped bust right. R: EFE ARCIEREYS ASKLAS EYFRWN, Stag standing right, quiver above. 3.8g 16mm RPC 2580
Wonderful coin, really... although Livia herself would have poisoned you for calling her a "chick" (she was a renowned poisoner, apparently even poisoning husband Augustus to hasten her son Tiberius' ascendancy to being Caesar).
Fantastic coin with a neat write-up! I don't have a 'Livia' coin myself to share, but here is a picture of my favourite on screen Livia.
Wow Q, that's a total winner ... yup, Livia was a real player back in "the Roman beginning" sadly, I don't have an example "yet" ... congrats again cheers (Happy Easter pickup!!)
Definitely an absolute winner!!! I LOVE everything about it!!! All I have is this modest example that is a bit better in hand....
