Ummm, due to circumstances outside of our control, we decided to cook our big Easter meal tonight (yah, apparently you're not supposed to eat meat on Good Friday) ... the Portuguese mother-in-law already balled us out!!

My wife is still merely a practicing Catholic (but she has been skipping a lot of practices lately)

    ... anyway ...

My meal is comin' along quite well (guests are arriving in an hour or so) ... take a peek

..... mmmm, nuthin' like my sweet bacon-wrapped turkey, with maple syrup and brandy gravy drippings!! (oh, and I have mashed potatoes with chives, apple cinnamon yams, brown sugar and buttered carrots, and stuffing with cranberries, apple-bits, pecan and mushrooms)

Oh, please post your Easter dinners (during the next few days) and one of your favourite coins as well (ummm, maybe a theme coin)

=> here is a rooster (close enough?)

Cheers, coin-gang (I hope your Good Fridays are going Great!!)

Sure, the bacon may be a bit crispy => but the underlying bird is gonna be moist and awesome!!

yah, it's almost like candied-bacon, with maple syrup and brandy drippings coated and baked-on (it is like a fricken bacon-desert thrown-in for bonus-points!!!)

Sounds great. I love bacon desert. My favourite is dark chocolate and bacon.

Well, the recipe sounds a bit strange to a french ear, but the coin is awesome !! :D
We're not having anything special on that week end, being on our own, my wife and I, the kids being somewhere out there. We've just had a plate of oysters and a bottle of Saint Veran wine (white and dry) this evening

    Happy easter dear friends !

=> Well, maybe the maple syrup, cinnamon, etc is showing my Canadian Lumberjack side, eh?

    ;)

=> Hey Q, let's see a photo of that bottle of wine, my friend!! (and a coin)

I shouldn't say this but - ducks are naturally fatty and you actually have to score the breast meat for the fat to drain from it - no bacon needed to keep it moist - Oh man, their gonna nibble me to death when I go to feed them tonight!!

Allen Iverson (Alan?) ... he was a sweet lil' NBA player a decade ago (MVP, etc)

=> but sadly, he had a bit of an ego and that allowed him to miss a few practices (in his mind)

You definitely didn't see my idol Jerry Rice take that attitude (first man to the field and last dude to leave => even into his early 40's the dude would practice harder than anybody else and he'd set a good example!!) ... that's an MVP, my friend

Looks yummy. We are protestant (Southern Baptist to be exact) so do not follow the no meat thing. We are making chili tonight, and will be celebrating Easter with extended family tomorrow, then a small family gathering for lunch after church Sunday. Our church does a Good Friday experience on Good Friday, where you walk through different stages that Jesus did leading up to his death. One stage was where he was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. They had replicas you could hold, but they were smaller than the actual ones were. The coin nerd in me was telling my wife how big they should really be, and I was thinking about bringing in an actual one for people to see, haha. I should have taken a picture of the replicas, but that would not have gone with the atmosphere very well. Happy Easter everyone!
