Considering I love toned coins and Washington Quarters are my favourite series, this is definitely a dream coin for me
1851 Braided Hair Large Cent (PCGS MS65BN). Nabbed this 165 year old beauty off eBay at $175 under PCGS Guide Price, a relative bargain. It's about as clean and pretty as Braided Hair Large Cents come. I like the bit of color variation (orange, violet, amber green), which helps to bring out the detail. Interesting that the obverse liberty bust design (by Chief Mint Engraver Christian Gobrecht) was modeled after a 1796 Benjamin West oil painting of Venus -- you can really see the facial (profile) similarity.
Ok I'm at the Manchester show and had a very good first day selling but I did go see a few wholesalers I know. You guys ready for this?
From a partial roll. X3. Hoping for 65 grades on them. 64 should be easy some of the marks on the plastic
