    That was one of my thoughts. Why aren't the 9' and 8 of the date melted?

    I knew a dumb coin like this would get some attention. I'm going to have to say this must be A planchet error. If it was pmd the 98 of the date would be melted too.

    I didn't pull out the hi powered graphics analyzers, but the aspect ratio seems off, is that your photo chopin' or is the coin NOT round?

    Someone laid a bent 8 penny nail on the obverse, and whacked it with a hammer. If you look to the left of Lincoln, you'll see that whoever did it, initially tried carving the letter "J" into the coin. Not being satisfied, they then set about bending a nail into the shape of a "J" and smacked it. Jack
