Just purchased this nice looking Walking Liberty Half. The pics show it in the flip and I can post more when I receive it in the mail.
AU-58, shows a few signs of wear, also looks lightly cleaned and a few small rim dings. Maybe $18.00-$20.00. Otherwise it looks clean but it is a common date.
I know it is in the WIW forum. But some people get mad when I tell them what it is worth, or grade it, when they were actually only just showing off a new purchase and posted it in a silly place. As for the coin - it is an AU with a large staple scratch across the entire eagle's wing on the reverse. It is worth a slight premium over silver melt, probably about $7.
I have to disagree with you on value @physics-fan3.14 - this will sell on eBay any day of the week for $15-25, depending on bidder activity (even with the scratch.) I will agree that, if lucky, I have been able to purchase similar AU 1940's Walkers for around $8 in the past. But if a coin is only worth what someone will pay for it...I could probably pull 50 auctions from my last year on eBay demonstrating that people will pay much more than $7 for similar coins, even coins of lesser quality.
Thanks all, I'm not planning on selling it, to me it's a keeper. Just wanted to see if I got my moneys worth which I think I did. I will let it gain value and pass it down when I get old and decrepit! You all keep barking, I'm enjoying this.
Come now Rick how many times do you see dark side coins in the US forum of new acquisitions or the GTG in what its worth or even foreign paper money in us coins....
