Finally got a coin of macrinus, plus it came in syrian tet flavor...which i dig. Syria, Seleucis and Pieria. Emesa. Macrinus, 217-218 AD. AR Tetradrachm O: laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. R: eagle standing facing, head left, holding wreath in beak; between legs, radiate and draped bust of Shamash left. Prieur 1015. 27 mm, 12.9 g i assumed the little guy below the eagle was sol, but i guess it's shamash...he was a mesopotamian (in origin anyway) sun god, so pretty similar to sol or maybe closer to mithra. feel free to post any coins of macrinus!
