The coin you posted has the same monogram as the one I posted - the consensus was coins with this monogram are fake.
Some Roman nummi are worth big bucks - up to a few thousand dollars. Well worth forging. And probably easy to forge given the very rough style of this series. How hard could it be to add a Ricimer monogram to a 9mm bronze flan? Furthermore an Eid Mar attracts likely far more scrutiny than a modest nummus, and so may fake AE4s pass under the radar. Unfortunately even the big auction houses are selling (I hope unknowingly?) fakes from the late 5th century. Also a problem is the misattribution of common AE4s as rare. Recently I saw what was probably a Honorius attributed as an Avitus AE4 by a major auction house. In fact I'm not sure Avitus AE4s even exist (Raziel Suarez has done some interesting research on this).
I had processed many authentic A e4 from Ricimer Majorian Anthemius ,Honorius Odovac ...I have some experience. Rarely you see fakes. This Anthemius put me in trouble.
