Hi everyone, I have a question for those who collect German coinage and maybe you can help me out some. I got this in a bag of world coins over a week ago and Ive been trying to figure the coins out for myself and for the most part I have but this one is stumping me. From what I have searched nothing matches this one, do you think its PMD, something new or something I cant find on the web and the book of world coins. I would appreciate opinions and thank you.
your coin is from German Empire Krause catalog KM#16 denomination- 2 pfennig, metal-copper looks like date 1915 maybe A for the mint mark hard to tell from your photos. coin is pretty beat up. value $0.20-0.40 cent in that grade. Ruler:Wilhelm II, that hole is PMD.
yeah the KM#16 is what I was wondering about, It is probably pmd but the hole looks quite a bit like the hole's I seen from Norway coins. I have no idea if there is a possibility of coins being minted from other mints like the US has done for other countries and or errors
Agree with spirityoda, 1915 and certainly PMD. In that year, only four mints made that denomination, so the mint mark could be A, D, E or F ... Christian
Ok I appreciate the help. I have no clue when it comes to anything other than US coins so I rely on your opinions and the book of world coins that I borrowed from the library. I got so many German coins from that lot from the teens -early 50's. Can someone recommend a site to grade Pfennig coins?
