Hi everyone, the other day I decided to stop by the bank to buy some modern gold presidential dollar coin rolls to search for errors and such. They had a roll of John Adams dollars that appeared to be mint wrapped. Do mint wrapped rolls hold any premium or should I just spend it?
Advertise it on eBay as "Direct from the United States Mint, in its original, official United States Government packaging." Also say, "Going fast, only one left!"
If they sell for $30-35 on eBay as @rickmp says, I'd call it a toss up. At $30, you don't make anything after fees and shipping. At $35 you make a buck or two. Your only hope of making it truly worthwhile to sell on eBay is if it somehow goes for much more than $35.
Open the roll, search for the missing edge lettering error, and then spend them. Reactions on the faces of people that think they are actually gold: priceless. TC
Since you didn't pay a premium for the roll, you have nothing to lose by opening the roll and everything to gain if there are any errors. Chris
Whoa, whoa.... what do you mean if he "can't open it safely"? You're not suggesting he open it, search, and reroll are you? It's a roll of coins, and millions are "safely" opened every day; it's not like the coins are going to jump out and bite him if opened "incorrectly"...
Disappointing but you really didn't lose out on anything and still have the same value as what you paid
