I 'm thinking about getting some John Adams First Day of Issaue Covers. The washingtons are selling on ebay for $30. Do you think the Adams will be a safe buy? Could I loose money?
Two more very important questions to asses supply and demand. Was there a limit of 10 orders per household on the Washington covers? Is there a 50,000 mintage limit on the Adams like the Washingtons had?
I would think the same guidelines on limits would be imposed on all future pres first day releases. If they see down the road the sales are slumping on these, they might lower the mintage....but I don't think they will do that. The best we can hope for is since Wash first day cover sold out so fast, the mint might think that the demand is sooo large, they increase the mintage to 75,000. Lets wait and see
thanks, so it's all the same as the Washingtons...most excellent MUHAHAHA!! Here I come double money!
Trust me, there won't be the demand as there is for the Washington covers. There was no limit on the Washington covers and a bunch of people ended up buying 1000's at a time and thats why they sold out so fast. The Adams covers have a limit of 10 per customer, so there will be plenty to go around for everybody. I wouldn't buy these to try to make money on them, that is too risky, as with any coin(s). Buy them because you like them, like I'am. I do plan on doing a collection of these as they are very nice. I like them. Now, back to collecting coins.
So far, but I imagine that Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt (teddy and franklin) maybe Wilson, Ike ..can't forget about Ike and Kennedy ofcourse will sell very strong. But I agree that the Washington 4 day blow out was a fluke and we may never see anything like that craziness again for coins with stamps.
