Another I keep seeing... Dear seller, please don't use the words "rare" and "unidentified" together. If you don't know what it is, you can't possibly know if it's rare or not.
Why not? Sure, offering free shipping generally equates to more interest but other than that why not charge for shipping?
Yes! Please ship my $55 coin via USPS priority int'l & registered/signed option for free across the globe - insurance included of course
Then you aren't doing it right. Coins on Ebay are a "dealer only" kind of thing. They are able to buy large quantities and cherry pick the best for retail sales on Ebay. I wouldn't expect you to be able to go to a coin show, buy from a dealer and make money on Ebay. You might get a bit more than you paid - but after fees, you're likely at a loss. There's a big difference between "flipping" and being able to build a business around collectibles. Dearest Ebay Coin Sellers, Selling to me at melt value will build wonderful karma in your life.
Dear Ebay coin seller: When selling European silver crown coins please include the weight of these coins in your description. Not what the books say these coins should weigh but the actual weight of the coin you are selling.
Dear Ebay coin seller: Don't get upset when we email you and tell you that the coin you are trying to sell looks like a fake.
Dear eBay coin sellers, Please, please, please list your coins in the correct category. I understand certain coins might fit under multiple categories, but, e.g. don't list Morgan dollars under the Peace dollar category. Also, don't list artificially toned coins and call them "monster toned." Either you know what you're doing and it's blatant fraud to do so, or you don't know the meaning of the term.
Dear Ebay coin seller: Don't put down that you shipped the coin today when tracking shows you shipped it 3 days later.
Dear Ebay seller: Private listing auctions are seen as a big red flag for shill bidding. Sometimes you see a very temping coin with this type of auction and then you ask yourself do you want to bid against the seller. Crooked sellers will hook a few with this type of auction, but I think most experienced buyers avoid them.
This one really gets me p'd off... Dear seller, when you ship a bulk lot, please package it so it doesn't "jingle bells" all the way home. This attracts a lot of unwanted attention to both the package and the destination location.
Dear eBay sellers, a 1943 cent is not worth $100, especially if it is uncertified! Additionally, simply saying it is uncirculated (believe it or not) does NOT make it uncirculated! Ahem...http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-PQ-GEM...646623?hash=item5683c0ee1f:g:1mEAAOSwoudW6z0v
Dear Ebay seller, Please do not tape a coin directly to a piece of cardboard when you ship it. (this actually happened to me)
I've had this happen several times. Acetone works well in removing the leftover adhesive, but still a pain
