    Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

    Someone trying to sell some. Funny thing is, they were first minted in New Orleans in 1879.

    not fake, a very rare item.

    Look for the C mintmark.

    [C = China]

    Yes, I did. I didn't want the price driven up too high, so I could get the "coins".

    Worst case scenario, I get my money back through ebay because they are counterfeit and some unsuspecting soul doesn't get ripped off, right? Nothing but upside, which is very unlikely.

    Besides, don't you folks want a report and close-up pics? :happy:

    Sure, go for it but I hope you know a 78o morgan is counterfit. I'm guessing from your statement though that it was a multi coin lot. Other morgans?

    Yes, more than 1 1878-O lol

    Preventing them from getting out into the marketplace, plus I want to see them first hand, as an educational tool. Hoping/expecting to get to keep them along with my refund, but who knows. If pressured to return them, I'll turn them over to the Feds here in Boston and get a receipt.

    Just checked on eBay. One was an 1878-P, no mintmark, and the other was an 1889-O. I sent a message to each seller. It'll be interesting to see if the auctions are retitled.
