Look what I found today in an envelope, forgotten for thirty-odd years (not by me), probably worthless though. 240 Russian rubles dating from the 1960's. The envelope was marked 'Casino'.
Ya, the Ruble wasn't and still isn't worth the ink they use. You have about $3.60 US. Enough for maybe a large coffee or a breakfast sandwich after the exchange fee. BoA will exchange foreign paper currency if you have an account with one.
No, that's not necessary, besides, I'm in Europe. But are you telling me these notes are still used in Russia, although they are dated 1961?
I wouldn't just go by official currency exchange values for them (provided they are still valid, which I suspect they are not). These are the types of notes that'd be offered in a dealer's box for $1 each. They may even catalog higher than that. Some buyers and dealers go by strict catalog values when determining what they'll buy or sell something for. It just depends on who you're dealing with. Personally, the notes are artistically appealing to me so if, for example, I were looking to buy I'd at least be prepared to offer more than exchange value for them.
