The last $0.60 medal in the batch

This last one is an Advertising Good Luck Medal that was apparently made by the Improved Order of Red Men.

On the obverse it states: A MOHAWK INDIAN FOR THE MOHAWK TRAIL and the date 1931.

On the reverse it states: IMPROVED ORDER OF RED MEN, OLD DEERFIELD CONFERENCE INDIAN ON THE TRAIL COMMITTEE HELP US BUILD GOOD LUCK SOUVENIR and then in small letters is states WHITEHEAD - HOAG

Here are a couple links describing the Mohawk trail.

Which one of the tokens are you asking about? :D

The CWT might be worth about $40 and the arcade tokens are sold by the pound & might be worth about $0.25 each. I guess that the dare devil, Penn, and Connecticut pieces might be in the $5 - $15 range. This is just my guess.

Do you know why or what the meaning is behind having a swastika placed on each side of the Indian? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I have this token and have always wondered.

That symbol is meant to signify Good Luck. Events during WW II have changed that defination forever I'm afraid.

Thank you for your quick response! I really had no idea but knew since my grandmother had this token it had to mean something good.

The swastika has been in use for 1000s of years and as Bill has noted it usually means good luck , but the nazis have changed that connotation for a long time . I think it was used in India 1st but I may be wrong on that , maybe someone else knows when it was 1st used .
