I was digging in Brentwood Essex and came across this coin. I have asked a coin collector and he has never seen it before, maybe a medallion? Anyone got any ideas what it's all about? Thanks Jamie.
Zamek Krolewski, also spelled (Kriolewski) is a castle in Warsaw. This was likely a medal to honor it at some special time period event.
Should be the castle in Kraków. There is a "zamek królewski" in Warsaw too, but then that term simply means "royal castle". The Wawel is the former residence of the Polish kings in Kraków. Not sure what the monogram on the other side represents ... Christian
Seems to be a souvenir token, see here: http://myvimu.com/exhibit/7592617-zamek-krolewski-wawel-zeton No idea about a possible date, but judging from the design I'd guess it is fairly modern. Oh, and the symbol on the other side is a crowned K, originally used as the monogram of King Kazimierz (Casimir) III ... http://www.cracoviae.com/en/compone...ntroduction-a-cracovie/23-quelques-dates.html ... but since the city name begins with a K as well ("Cracow" does not count ), the K with the crown is apparently used, by various companies/institutions, as a reference to or symbol of the city: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbols_of_Kraków#Other_symbols Nice find, even though it won't make you rich.
