Thanks. I have been at this game for 25 years, up to 600+ AV coins. Also collect US/Canada obsolete banknotes. I may start into silver denarius Roman.
Thanks! But the real credit goes to the mintmasters that designed the older coinage. I think older coins are so much better looking then modern ones, with odd exceptions. Here is a really nice one.....Hungary AV Dukat 1677 K-B (Kremnitz Mnit) Emperor Leopold I
As promised, here are some of yesterday's pickups: Australia - 1966 50 Cents Austria - 1964 (Proof) 50 Schilling (mintage of only 67,950) Austria - 1975 (Proof) 100 Schilling (not sure of mintage on this one, depends if it's (v) or (h)) Austria - 1976 (Proof) 100 Schilling (mintage of 220,000) Belize - 2002 1 Dollar (mintage unknown) Guernsey - 2002 1 Pound (mintage unknown) Mexico - 1978 100 Pesos Romania - 1995 100 Lei (mintage of only 30,000) Yugoslavia - 1983 500 Dinara (mintage of only 110,000)
Several very nice ones there! That coin is from Vienna, see the CoA below the word "Schilling". A piece from Hall would feature the Tyrolean eagle there ... Christian
Nice coins Christian! I really like the Austrian Olympic ones. If, I had to pick a favorite Country (even though I am German) to collect....it would be Austria, when it was the "Holy Roman Empire". That would have encompassed most of Germany/Austria/Italy/Austrian Netherlands/Czech Rep/Former Yugoslavia) These were so unique in many aspects....first milled coins/first dated Christian coins/first larger format gold/silver/ really large 100/50/40 Dukats/great reverse design(Double Headed eagle) Here is one of my favorites from there....A Double Souverain d'or 1831-A (Vienna Mint) Holy Roman Emperor Franz II Lombardy-Venetia John
I just got this a few days ago -- accidentally, actually !! Mexican Libertad 1/2 ounce gold MS69 Ultra Cameo: Anybody into the Libertad gold coins ? Guy was asking $950 and I had made what I thought was a low-ball offer of $725. Didn't think it would be accepted and was actually looking at other coins so I was a bit surprised when he/she accepted. Hope I got a good price.......
I picked these up today. None are really inline with what I collect but the local coin pusher threw them all in for a dollar when I was picking up some other items today. Some I know what they are and others I don't have much of an idea.
Well I bid on this and won it without contest. Yet another 1942 threepence one of the key dates. Mintage is a hair over 500,000. So now I have two ;D Sellers pics (which is why it's so fuzzy).
Keeping the uncirculated Euro Collection up to date. The latest was the 2014 Andorra, released and sold out in 2015. The Limited edition set, mintage 70,000, originally sold for 24 Euros. I ran across this proof set and had to have it. The 5 Pound is awesome. It commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. It also has a bi-colored 2 Pound coin commemorating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA. The 50 Pence celebrates 100 years of Women's Social and Political Union. the 2 Pound coin symbolizes the advance of technology from the Iron Age to the Internet. This is what is known as an Executive Proof set. It comes in a metal box which displays the set when you open it up. Set pops up when case is opened. Sort of neat, but also sort of clunky, and big. Kind of a nice conversation piece, however. 2003 United Kingdom Golden Jubilee Executive Proof Set. Mintage 5,000
Been a bit slow lately, have to save money for college. But I just saw this and knew I could win it cheap. About 3 oz of aussie silver for $5 less than melt Sellers photos
