Dang, at my age I wonder if I can remember that entire lingo. Will make for a great comeback at my next garage sale. Steve
If it is listed in both places and you do the deal through his website because you found out it was there then that is your perogative. But if it is offered on Ebay, you don't find it on the outside website (or it is only being offered on Ebay), and you use ebay to communicate in doing a deal for it off ebay then it is not fair to ebay and is a misuse of that site. I am just saying that that is an under the table deal. Finding the coin you want in two places and choosing to go through the non-ebay venue to deal for it is not an under the table deal.
Ebay has no loyalty or protection for it's sellers, therefor they have no loyalty to Ebay. Maybe that would change if Ebay is ever capable of hiring an executive who can figure out that coins shouldn't have the same return policies as used clothing
Wow. Those links at Northeast misled me into thinking they were selling the same coin at the same time.
I too cannot excuse the unprofessional behavior, but I also don't know if it is the result of past nonsense, or if he simply has a poor overall attitude. It's certainly possible that, due to past low ball offers, he is too quick to judge based upon incomplete information, kind of like how most of the members here do, but still... there are better and more productive ways to deal with such people.
I know he can set it up to automatically decline too low of offers. I have my buy it nows set to decline anything crazy low, but then I at LEAST counter the offers that make it to me. No way in heck am I going to insult any offerers. Not sure what kinda business plan that is.
It's the business plan of a guy who constantly wonders why his business isn't as profitable as it should be.
Some sick people on eBay. Once had a seller tell me I'm a rat who tried to rob his store after I won a couple items on bids that he felt went below his desired price.
Wow. I would have politely informed him that was what reserves and BIN prices were for, and then never bought from him again.
I told him I could see that price for a slightly bigger off center strike, but this one is pretty darn small in my opinion. I still want the coin, but don't know if I can go that big in price. There is another off center $2 1/2 on ebay, and they are wanting closer to $6k for it, but it is a little bigger off center. I feel it is overpriced too. I love these coins, and want to own unique ones (like the toned on in my pic). I am a serious player on his coin, but his attack out of nowhere was odd.
His demeanor aside which clearly wasn't very professional of him to put it nicely, I would agree it is a rather small offstike. With that said the question is really how often can these be found offstruck. If they rarely ever happened than it is a little more offstruck due to rarity than say something 15% off struck that is commonly found 40% or more. I really don't know the value for these being off struck, 2k may get him more interested having the magic 2 as the start of the offer but if these are exceedingly rare and you really want it you may just have to pay up to get it.
If I do get it, I would probably want to get it re-holdered. These old holders almost cover the offstrike. I think you could see it better in a new holder.
Good idea. I didn't even see it was off-center until I looked more closely at the pictures of the coin.
I left a neg and he gave a very telling reply to it. I went back and found it, see below. Guy definitely has mental issues.
That guy is amazing for all the wrong reasons. If only there was a way to set the opening bid of an auction, or set a reserve, or list something for the price you wanted things to sell at he could avoid having to "SHOT you all THIEFS"
