Sometime ago I noted an odd feature on a 2005 Kansas State Quarter that is encased in a Proof Set. I had purchased 6 clad proof sets that year. While looking at them I noted that one Kansas Quarter in one of the proof sets had "doubling" which is most notable at the forehead, nose and chin of Washington. Looking at the quarter through a 20x loop other areas also show some doubling. I have looked at all of the other Proof Quarters I have in sets and have found no similar features on any other quarters. As a novice I have no idea what caused this issue or if this is even a coin of interest but would be thankful for an opinion from someone with expertise in errors and/or varieties. Thank you!
Thank you for all the feedback and enlightening me. It does appear to be flat and shelf like, therefore Machine Doubling.
