    Hello,
I was sold this coin as King John, 1199-1216 - Moneyer Abel on LVNDE.

I am having difficulty relating this coin to any in Spink under 'John'.
    Can anyone help me please?

i'm not too sure how recognisable that is as any recognisable coin. Hopefully it wasn't too expensive - a far better quality coin of the period need not be too expensive.

I found that out when it arrived.
As it came attributed, I was hopeful that the seller's photography skills were 'off'.

Are you interested in medieval hammered coins? Certainly if you want something to start, Edward I pennies are a very reasonable price and will at least give you a whole coin with sufficient detail to research.

I'm kind of interested how the person you brought that portion from - and how they man agates to attribute it. Can you get a refund?

I do have a number of 'hammered' English coins. I started with an English (1947) five pound note (for my Father) and I went back from there, until I came to the Roman and the Greek coins. I have (sort of) got 'bogged' down with them, since.

Short crosses, long crosses, voided crosses, 11 Edwards, etc etc. so much to get into.
