Whether worth something or not, star notes are pretty cool nonetheless. I've never found one in circulation, but I do have an older $2 star note that was part of a stash that came my way. You can keep it or spend it, but if you like it, keep it.
Wow. I've gotten about 400 1$ stars in the past year. But I've gone through some 20,000 in new singles and 100,000 circulated singles in the last year alone. You'll typically find 1 star every 3 straps and about a third of them will range from xf-au. But other regions may have other results. Happy hunting.
Sorry that it took so long, but here is a scan of my 3-special finds so far in 2016. Top is the Mis Match 2006 Star, Next is another from that same 2006 run, but is a serial number far above the reported range that was supposed to end at 07040000, and finally was a 1988a B-L Non-Web from the only business mixed-run for 88a other than the F-*. I sure feel lucky to have found these notes...
My lack of star note finds probably reflects my rapidly decreasing use of cash in everyday life. I now rarely have cash in my wallet. Also, since I posted "I've never found one in circulation" above, I actually received a star note in change. Not a fantastic specimen, it's a rather worn series 2006, but it does stand as the first one I've ever noticed in circulation. Perhaps all of these years I simply wasn't looking?
Hi, this post is to fulfill my promise to provide a scan of my three (3) series 2006 $1- FRN Star mis-matched serial number error-notes. I do not know how to ad my scan here. But the history is that two were found in circulation about 2014-15, but the third was found in April of 2016 in a BOA 100 note repack. I own twenty-eight (28) from the run with serial starting with B06438255* up thru B07034043*. Here is where it gets interesting as the run should have ended with FRN serial B07040000*, but somehow I also have two (2) with serials above that. They are B07090905* and B07096068*. Counting these two, I have a small collection of thirty (30) notes within that weird run. Several other collectors have already provided me data from their notes and I am keeping track of all. However, I need full data for each note; [Green FRN serial, Faceplate Position data (ul) , Faceplate serial data (lr), and Backplate serial data (lr)] for my spreadsheet list. I want to gather enough new info to write about existing specimens. I am member #2676 of the Society of Paper Money Collectors and this could possibly fit into their publication “Paper Money”, especially with new expanded info for the less reported Faceplate Position anomalies that exist. I will share my data by email if requested in a private message, but if you only have an item or two, listing them here is fine. Thanks in advance for your help!
