Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

Thinking about buying this, not at a big premium. I think it looks cool, so my thoughts on the coin are what really matters, but looking for other's opinion about the toning. In all likelihood, it has been polished, I know.

    Does it have an obverse?

Melt value is just about $12 ($15.52 x .77344). I wouldn't pay too much more than that.

Once it stops being a coin and starts being jewelry, the "toning" becomes "tarnish." If I were going to buy it, it would be based on its silver value.

People can and do pay stupid money just because a morgan is in a bezel. Then if you add a cheap sterling necklace to it, triple the price. It's crazy

People like the ones who understand the historical value of well-preserved Morgans, and like them so much to still want to wear one as jewelry. Their only resource is to buy one already in a bezel because anything else is sacrilege.

Nah, you could mount a slab on a necklace. :p

Chris is right. Melt value and nothing more. The bezel has killed any collecting value and the bezel isn't worth two cents.

Point of clarification santini. It killed the numismatic value. However that's offset by adding collector value. They go for way more than melt. Especially the ones with bezels that are vintage/period, solder sealed or ornate.

The op's is a cheap bezel but should still sell for around $50-60 with a $5-10 sterling necklace on it

I wonder how much @joshuacoinington paid for his from his avatar pic. That thing sparkled like a Flava Flav diamond. Wonder what happened to him

You think that's bad, a Morgan ring goes for $125 if it's done right.... I got all the stuff needed to do this but I just can't bring myself to punch a hole in one yet..... IMAG0921_1.jpg I paid $80 and supplied the coin for this one, I love it and wear it everyday, even to work

Nice. I know a guy that does them. I want one but I just wouldn't wear it. I wear 2 heavy gold rings only. One is sentimental and the other is a highly liquid asset in case I'm stuck in a bind
