Hi I am helping a friend ID some roman bronze coins and could use some help. This first has had me me stumped even though the legend is largely there on the obverse. Elagabalus?: Coin #1, is large and likely a sestertius Coin #2 is likely a sestertius Coin #3 is smaller at 27 mm. Likely a Julia??...but which one I have no idea. And yes I will be doing a BD treatment on this one.
1. Trebonianus Gallus. Pietas reverse. 2. Elagabalus. Libertas reverse. 3. Otacilia Severa. Pudicitia reverse.
Looks like 'Z' nailed them for you @TJC .......overall, they are nice examples. Otacilia does seem to need a B.D. treatment as Mat mentions and that means you should probably treat all just to be safe.
Nice, TJC ... those babies are nice, big & heavy ... Curious? => is that Otacilia Severa green-stuff soft & flaky, or is it hard and crusty?
