At the ANA Convention in Dallas, I met BLUCC PHOTOS who participates here as Blu62Vette. At the show, I only bought three small coins, and I paid him to take their photographs. I was quite pleased. That was just a test, specifically because the coins were small. The ones I will send him are four or five ancient Greeks, drachmas and smaller, down to fourths, so we are talking like lentils for size. I am confident that he will do a good job. I mention this because I just did a search here and read some of the posts from people having a hard time with it. When I worked at Coin World, I had a great set-up, and instruction and practice. Here at home, all I have is a cell phone and a printer/scanner. They are fine for what they are. In the ANA Dallas Convention topic thread, I posted pictures of two aluminum coins that I took with my iPhone 5. They are fine for chat boards. For something else, something better, more important, more valuable, you cannot go wrong hiring a professional. You can do it yourself. It is not hard. It just takes some equipment and some practice. But how many hobbies do you want to have at once? Maximilian II denier 1568 Kremnica Mint. This is a 20K Jpeg exported from a 20 Meg Tiff. The big ones are "realer than life."
@kaparthy I agree that Todd does an excellent job! Bob Campbell @robec is also another who takes excellent photos. My only problem with both of them is that they live on the wrong coast of the US. Chris
Yes, he has been at the FUN Show many times. He and Charmy usually have tables next to one another. Chris
