Just going through some rolls and spotted this 2001D, not sure what to make of the damage on both sides of the coin. Your expertise/knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It looks to be post mint damage. The rule of thumb that I use when I have a coin like this is, if the area in question is raised, it was likely on the die, such as a cud or die crack. If it is not raised, or sunk into the surface of the coin, it was likely created outside of the mint.

Thanks again for your knowledge. That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure it is pocket change!
