I have a Belgium 5 Francs dated 1939 in VF

Its 1939 position "B" ,Nickel, milled edge lettering with star, Dutch Legend "Belgie-Belgique"

Krause says KM#117.2 is $0.50 in VF

The exact same description for KM#116.2
    says $500 in VF

    Which is mine?
@spirityoda collects Belgian so may be able to assist.

You have the regular type. The expensive one has "Belgique" to the left of 3 shields and "Belgie" to the right.

Belgique to the left and Belgie to the right is the French legend and is $60 in VF KM#117.3

    Yours should be KM117.2, right?
I expect any KM116 sub-type to have the French name "Belgique" to the left.

This is what is in my Krause.
It could be either of the ones marked in Red.
The coin below the red marks is the French legend, mine is Dutch.

Well here are the Dutch and French from krause in Full., there is only one 1939 in French and that has a crown.

Agreed. According to this catalog, also from Krause (Collecting World Coins), the three 116.x numbers (p. 106) refer to the French-Dutch type while the three 117.x numbers (p. 107) are for the Dutch-French type ...

without the star on edge it would be hard to figure that out for sure. at least we figured it out to be the Dutch version.
