Hello I know very little about coins, However my husband was an avid collector, and for past 4 years have been sorting and selling, , This has me stumped,I am pretty sure it is a penny, or maybe a half penny, this is all I can decipher Any help appreciated
Ah found it, same as this one: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Undated-Robe...261447?hash=item5d60a31e87:g:M48AAOSwYaFWd06U
Selling a loved ones coins is = Personal ?. just get rid of them as they mean nothing to me? , I never understood why he spent money on crap?, or at least he spent money on something as I see worthless?
Wow, Numismat that was fast, wonderful, and thank you. and Markus, Yes my husband passed away 7 yrs ago, for 4 yrs nothing of his was touched, clothes personal items, etc, any talk of selling/clearing the house made me bristle, however with the passing years and my aging (which includes the plethora of illnesses which plague some of us old folk,) I HAVE RELUCTANTLY changed my mind, and believe me many a tear is still shed as I sort through and still have about 5000 to go.Also quite a few of these I had bought for him over the years as Christmas presents etc etc, so know I dont for a second think he spent money or crap or useless items.
What the hell is this, Markus? Man, I'm sorry..... I realize you probably meant no harm, but that comes across as a low and totally unnecessary blow to someome who did absolutely nothing to deserve it. Selling a loved one's coins is personal and often difficult for the person left to do so. It's not always a negative or that the individual doesn't care. A little kindness, understanding, and compassion can go a long way.
Amen and well said. FAR too judgmental for someone who hasn't a clue about this lady's thoughts, situation and circumstance. @nursenancy4 Don't feel the need to explain yourself.
Please allow me to apologize for the other gentleman's rather ungentlemanly behavior. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't think before we post, and things said come across other than as intended (or so I'd like to think). I understand all too well the difficulty of your present situation. Even though you've already made your decision, take your time, do this only when you're ready to, and perhaps try to enjoy being reminded of memories of good times. If the board can be of assistance in helping you to identify, evaluate, or simply answer questions regarding any of your husband's coins, please do not hesitate to ask. Welcome to the forum, and please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences on the loss of your husband.
Thank you all so much, for your kind words, and your offers of help. Most of them are easy to identify and he also kept a very detailed record of majority, just these odd balls throw me for a loop, and yes I know I dont need to explain myself, just caught me by surprise thats all, but I also know this is what my hubby wanted, In fact he told me which ones to sell first and which to keep for our daughter and any future grandchildren.again thank you all.
Nursenancy4, Glad you got an answer. I have a bunch of stuff that I have no explanation for, and I was the collector! And. ..pay no heed to thoughtless posts; jerks are everywhere.
