Hi I just won this today in CNG's e-auction 370. It looks a bit strange because it was photographed in an ICG slab. That slab will go bye bye as soon as I receive it. Please post your coins of Nero. Nero. AD 54-68. AR Denarius Rome mint. Struck AD 68. Obv: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P P, Laureate head right Rev: Legionary eagle between two standards. RIC I 68 (R2); RSC 356 Ex: CNG e-auction 370 lot 391
Great coin - I'm sure it'll look much better out of the slab and in your hand. That pic looks more like a graphic than a camera image. Was this an upgrade to your 12-Caesars set, or just because?

Thanks for the comments. Yes I bought it as an upgrade. I find that I am slowly buying better coins for the set. It is a lot of fun but I can choose the ones I want since I am in no hurry.
Thanks for the photos of those great coins. I only have one coin (other than the Nero) that shows the standards. Nice Nero. I did notice that one while browsing. I was going to bid on the Nero with the SPQR counterstamp before the price went too high. I could post a lot more pics of CNG losses than wins.
I noticed that one with the countermark. In fact they had a few interesting Neros. They had one with him as Caesar under Claudius.
two thumbs up, one for the coin and one for de-slabbing I have two Neros the first was an ebay purchase advertised as a coin, the dealer offered to refund the $1. I said it will go on my treasures shelf. This tetradrachm was minted in Egypt in Nero's year 12.
sweet lookin' coin orfew, be sure to post your own pics when you get it and set it free. my only nero..
