It's a rainy day here in Dallas so I was sorting some framed coin sets I got at a local auction awhile back and I noticed this 77d Ike. Looks like someone plated it. coin&stamps.JPG 77dOBV-1.JPG 77dOBV-2.JPG 77dOBV-3.JPG 77dOBV-4.JPG 77dREV-1.JPG

    Possibly lacquered.

Or that. The "halos" visible in some images around the devices make me think it might have been polished with a cloth.

Yes it looks plated. Check the edge for validation.

All of them but the cent look heavily polished. This wasn't uncommon with these sort of framed sets; though I've never seen this particular one before.

Coins in those types of displays tend to be either plated or heavily polished and buffed to make the overall display look "better." I've never understood why. They must have been marketed to casual non collectors. If you see copper on the edge it's been whizzed. No copper, plated.

I've never seen it before either, I had got it in a box of framed coin sets along with others I've never seen before. Check out a couple of these. 200yrs.JPG buffalo.JPG titanic.JPG
