I was looking for some help identifying this coin. Its a 1943 nickel but I am unsure if its just a regular 43 or if its the 3/2? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/mitchalbade/DSC00294.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/mitchalbade/DSC00290.jpg
A faint diagonal, and pronounced horizontal portion of a "2" should be visable beneath the "3". I don't see that on your coin, but that may be due to the picture. Here is a picture you can use for comparison... http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/HNAI/300/414/414001060o.jpg (click on the picture to enlarge)
Well I'm going to put in my cents worth It doesn't look like the ones I've seen. I don't have one here in hand to check better so I have to go by photos and what I remember, but I don't think this is one. Speedy
Sorry I have to agree with the others on this one if you look at the 1943 that Jody has in his post that is a good comparison. If you enjoy collecting nickels you might do what I do when I come here, I make a copy of every nickel error or variety picture that is posted here that is of interest to me and use it for future reference. Keep searching rolls there are many more out there just waiting for you to find good luck. Bruce.
darn! I got this coin out of a change machine thought I hit the jackpot maybe next time. Thanks you everyone!!!
Still, a cool find. Atleast silver, and looks like a decent grade, not too badly worn. Wouldthat be a F-12 maybe? Probably not much of a difference, but still neat. Do you collect other coins? Phoenix
enthusiast First, welcome. Second, there is a variety listed that is simply a die crack from the three, and there is the overdate. I believe that yours is the die crack, no value. however, check the bottom inner part of the 3 and see if there is a horizontal line across the inner part. If so, then you have the 3/2 variety. These are pretty neat, and have cherry picked two in the last year or so. One is now in an ANACS AU-50 holder.
