I was thinking of purchasing one of these from a dealer friend of mine and thought it would be a decent addition to my collection. These originally didnt sell very well and ended up having a mintage of only 68,000. The one I'm interested in is the proof version. Does anyone else here collect comemoratives? This isnt really my area so any input would be great. He's asking $26.00 dollars for the coin. Thanks!
I say go for it. They were listed at $25 in the last red book i bought and more to the point it is a nice coin IMO
Finally a fellow modern commemorative collector. Heavens be praised I collect commemoratives liek crazy. Why dont you buy the whoe set. the sucker might really take off one day
Yea, I probably should just go ahead and buy the whole set. I may just buy a few and put the extras away.
Twenty-six dollars is a decent price for the 1994 US Capital commemorative. The fun part of collecting is to collect what you like. I like the modern commemoratives. It is an inexpensive series and fun to collect.
Yes - since early 80's I have collected commemoratives. I buy almost everything the mint comes out with - I used to only do the proofs, but now I do both proof and uncirculated. I think one of the best sets I have is the 4 coin smithsonian and 6 coin mt rushmore. I need to re-inventory everything to get a current list. The one thing I don't do is actively seek some of the sets I am missing.
I agree. buy it It is a goodprice for sure. I have nearly all of the modern comms. And like mark_h, I use to buy only the proofs. If I saw that coin for 26 bucks, I'd buy it.
