Dumps at the Banks

What do you use to carry your dumps to the coin machine at the bank? I ask because I have been using shoeboxes and they are getting pretty beat up. A box of Halves can be heavy and I wanted to know what is the best type of bag or box to use. Last thing I want is for one of my boxes to break and get $500 of change all over the place.

Maybe get an old mint bag? One of those nice canvas ones.

    Plastic coffee containers work well.

(Still waiting for all of the jokes... "I took a dump at the bank once..." )

Right! For $500 worth of half dollars, just insert one plastic bag into another 20 times.........or use just one of these.

The bags look great. I would kind of feel cool walking into the bank with one of those rather than a shoebox that's about to bust apart. I will ask the bank for one next time I am there.

I wish I had some nice canvas bags. Instead I dump everything into gallon freezer bags ($50 cents per bag or ~$500 halves per bag) then I put 2 bags into about 6 plastic grocery store bags. It's cheap and easy. When the plastic bags start to rip I just take them to the store and dump them in their bag recycling. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Maybe I'm missing something but what about the box the halves came in. They are sturdy boxes.

I've found that once unrolled, you can never get them in the box again...Just like a map :)

I have about 10 of them, some of them are nearly a 100 years old and they all get used. My largest is a 1962 Royal Canadian Mint $60 cent bag. Why $60? Must have been a Canadian thing eh?

I use a free blue Walmart bag for each box of halves. Sturdy, easy to carry, and reusable.

I found out that the giant folgers coffee can (ones that make up to 240 6oz cups) can hold exactly $500 in half dollars. Bank tellers had a good laugh about brewing them some coffee while I was there.

All my returns are made in a big plastic coffee cans. Fairly easy to hang on to and the other customers in line look at you like you're just a little crazy. Good times. :)

Unfortunately for me, my bank decided sometime last year that they would not have any Coin Machines any longer at any of their branches. The reason was that there were too many of their own customers and not enough of non customers bringing in coins.. they were not making any profit.. now I have to wrap all of my coins and I take them in a canvas duffle bag with shoulder strap. Last trip was $200.00 in Quarters, Nickels and Dimes. I don't bother too much with rolling Cents. I refuse to pay fees for coin machines at other banks and I get free coin wraps at my bank.. by the way the bank is CapitalOne

I usually use the box they came in. If I have a lot of rolls that didn't come in a box (customers at my farmers markets, teller rolls) I use a canvas bag. Some banks will give you one.
