    reverse of coin, is this considered a die crack error? thanks

    Yes to Lamination which is common on those older Nickels.
    A Die Crack is on the Die itself so when a blank Planchet is struck the area would look raised on the coin because the metal of the Planchet is flowing into the crack.
    For example -
