Post mint, A guy just stamped a "5" in a random penny

 

Somebody had a number 5 stamp and too much time on their hands!

 

I've got a ton of cents that will be going to the CoinStar. I think I'll punch random numbers and letters into them before they go.

 

And a big hammer, punches that come through to the other side of the coin are just that - PMD

 

Metal detecting clubs used to punch numbers onto coins for used as numbered tokens.

They generally looked like this.

Here are some of my counter stamps, I do them to get peoples attention and maybe interest in the hobby. Feed them into the change stream at stores I may be mostly a token and modern counter stamp collector. Plus it will give collectors in the future something to ponder and discuss!
