Hi guys. I am not a coin collector. But my mom and I found some Dragon Yen that we must have bought a long time ago. Now I heard guys saying my coins worth $200-6000 a piece. Thats a pretty big window. These 4 are the ones I researched thay "should" be the most collectable year right? 1985? Was just hoping someone on here could help me out with the market value. Just cant trust some of these appraisers...
Top Left: 1875 Top Right: 1879 Bottom Left: 1875 Bottom Right: 1875 Source: http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5505.html I find it odd that you have 3 of the same year with the lowest mintage...What do the other sides look like? I am very skeptical that these are genuine. http://www.coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coins?main_coin=1634
Most people are. But do these look like replicas? Ill take a bunch of HD pics when i go home. These are the 4 that should be worth the most out of the 30 somethi g we found
The bottom left and right look like they could be replicas to me. I'm no expert on the series though. These types of coins are faked a lot. Not saying yours are fakes, but it is highly suspect to have 3 of same rare date. Also, the ones you see on alibaba are not even the best fakes out there. What are the weights on these?
Gotta agree, they don't look right, not enough clarity. Better pics may change something but I don't think so.
Then better pics you shall get. Ill be home in 8 hours. I got about 20 or 30 of these. But only the 1985s are collectable right
Check them with a magnet. There is a good chance you have a bunch of silver dollar sized steel slugs.
These don't appear to be genuine One Yen crowns. But they are beautiful coins and ALWAYS wanted to have one! I'm looking for a 1908 in at least XF+ condition (I require luster...) If anyone has one, I'd like one. On ebay they bid for crazy high premiums even in lower grades. Edit: how big is your hand? These should be the size of Morgan Silver Dollars. They look smaller than Kennedy halves based on the picture. Right now, the biggest red flag I'm noticing is how tiny they are. If these are the same One Yen coins minted between the 1870's and 1910's they should be 38mm or something like that.
