unofficial Gallienus?

    This coin is listed on ebay as an unrecorded variant of the beast series, depicting a deer with a young foal alongside. I see no evidence of feet on the foal (could just be a well placed blob) and I also think the portrait of gallienus looks wrong....
    I am sure its contemporary, but my gut tells me its unofficial.

    Difficult to say, the images are too small. I would say that deer and foal is about legit as my Salonina with giraffe reverse. I think your blob more likely.

    I don't know of any deer and foal, but you are correct about the portrait looking wrong.

    I say unofficial on bust style. The style on the reverses can vary widely, but the official coins are remarkably homogeneous when it comes to the busts, at least in my limited experience.
