That same Marianne by JC Chaplain was used on large medals for the 1900 Olympic Games, and can be had for a fair bit less. You'll see a lot more detail in it. Both are beautiful pieces.
This piece is graded NGC MS-67. The luster just drips off the coin. I've always been a fan of these coins.
That is some coin! I assume the Roman numeral VI stands for the sixth year of King Charles I's reign, when Parliament was closed (1629-40) and the Puritans were just settling a town that became Boston, Massachusetts[-Bay]. Quite the historical piece for America and England.
That is the prob. I am not 100% sure. The ones that I found like it are Transylvania 1590's. But I have yet to find on that has the SHIELD between his feet.
This is one of my favorite coins in my collection. The photos don't do the toning justice. A lot of the early Soviet pieces got put through the wringer, so it's always nice to find an original one.
