Hey guys, I bought this a few days after Christmas as a gift to myself. Some of you may know of my passion for unique pattern morgan toners and when I saw this I knew it would be mine. You know, when you get the tingle in your leg and knot in your gut. Anyway, thought it was time to share. These banded stripe toners aren't technically rare as they do come up every so often but what is unique is the intense colors and obviously the grouping of 5 in a single multi-slab.

And before anyone asks the stripes are most likely from those old pre plastic sleeve folders that had a cardboard strip in the reverse to prevent the coins from falling through.

Individual pics are in order from left to right and were done by Todd Pollock of BluCC as I had it with me at long beach. Now, if I can only pry a killer monster dmpl from him :)

I like the '79 how the stripe goes right up through the eagle. Pretty cool

For sure. If I was ocd though the 97 (which has the best color imo) would kill me lol

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

That is a really cool set. Striped toners like this aren't rare, but they aren't common, either. It is interesting and unusual to see them in a matched multiholder like this. You don't see those much anymore.

One would think they'd get star grades too but I guess not

Those are really cool. If they were all in individual slabs - not so much. Great use of the multi-slab.

The slab could predate the *, I am not sure though

Good thought. When did the star thing start? This slab could be anywhere from the early - mid 2000s on

I want to say 2010ish or sometime after that but not 100 percent on the start date

Wow. The crown/wreath on fire on Ms. Liberty's head (the 1882) is unreal!

I've seen a few of these before (though not in the multi holders) but what causes this kind of stripe?
