I was going over some coin auctions today and I noticed something I had never seen before. The bidder of one such auction had a "private" where their feedback rating should have been. When I checked his feedback, sure enough it said his feedback remarks were being hidden or kept private. It still showed his score but that was it. I figured this wasn't or at least shouldn't be allowed since it is a very useful and necessary protection tool in the auction process. Pretty soon the whole feedback process will probably be eliminated and we will just have to "trust" everyone's honesty.
Private feedback has been around for a long while. That, along with private auctions where the identity of the bidders is concealed, are components of any EBay auction they appear in.
Yes, I just noticed you can have private feedback. I have a sell only account and sometimes when it is warranted, will leave neutral or negative feedback but I don't think it is something everyone needs to read. I left a neutral to one seller, he took a week to ship when he states he ships within one business day, and never responded to my message.
The question I have are with the "private auctions", why does ebay allow these to go on. For me they are a cover for potential shill bidding
I don't think you said that correctly. Sell only ? Can't leave neg. Buy only like you describe having something delivered?
