Would like to know what this coin is and the worth.

I have 7 other coins that look like this but with no flag.

    Thank you.

It is a 1 fen from Manchoukuo (Japanese puppet state prior to WWII, located in Manchuria). The date on the coin is KT 3 (1936). It is worth a dollar or less.

Without pictures it's pretty hard to guess what your other coins are.

One possibiity is coinage of the East Hopei puppet government in a different part of China. Their 5 li, 1 fen and 5 fen coins have similar reverses to the Manchukuo fen. Higher denominations have a large tower on the obverse.

Another possibility is Manchukuo coinage of later dates.

If they are Japanese occupation cons, they aren't worth more than a few bucks unless they are in high MS condition.

Yes, it's from Manchukuo, just like what acanthite said. Still a pretty interesting coin.

    Thanks all for the information.
Used most of the day researching history of Japanese coins ..very interesting

also tried to learn how to read the dates on these coins
    "I give up!!"

I am attaching one of my problem coins in hope that you wizards can
tell me more about it. I am assuming it is a Japanese 1 sen Taisho ?

How close did I get?? . .. but what is the date??

Sorry about the pictures (could not tell what was the top or the bottom)
Did get each side printed though! (snicker snicker)

    Close, but no cigar.

The coin is a 1 sen, but it's dated Showa 12 (1937). The date is at the top of the left picture, which is really the bottom of the coin. (Actually, both pictures are upside down.)

The "+" is 10, the "=" is 2, so the date is 10+2=12. The two characters to the left of the numbers in the picture are "Showa", and the character to the right of the numbers is "nen" (year).

Here is a link to the best site on the internet for help in dating Japanese coins.

Y#47 is 3.75g, bronze, mintage 133,196,568, catalog value from 15¢-$1.50. Without the verdegris it would likely be a 75¢ coin. :(

BTW, minted from Showa 2-13 (1927-38), except for the regnal name it is identical to Y#42, minted from Taisho 5-13 (1916-24).
