I have owned many Morgans--bought and sold them over the years. Included in my love for the coin have been some awfully pretty coins--high grade, beautiful surfaces, etc. I saw this one, and thought it was one of the best looking coins I have ever seen--it combined super strike, great surfaces, and luster that goes on forever. Yes, it is one of the most common dates for any Morgan, but the eye appeal blew me away. Even picked it up at a great price--under retail, and that was an extra thrill.
Wow, look @ the hair strand above the date, where the bear claw is! All the detail is there! Drool.....
Thanks, folks. Bought this one last week, as it was one of the strongest eye appeal Morgans I have seen in a while. It is even cleaner, and more brilliant in hand. The chin bagmark looks much less pronounced in hand. No telling what it would have graded, with no chin rub.
I bet in hand, the luster on that is killer. When people ask what a good strike on a Morgan looks like, you can post that one.
