Explain this 1920 Pilgrim Commemorative half dollar to me

    Supposedly, it has been graded MS 64 by PCGS.

    Are those just die polish marks? Really unattractive toning? Both?

    Looks like a bad picture of a coin with slightly streaky toning, and I wouldn't try to grade from it.

    It looks like it has been either harshly cleaned or dragged under a truck on asphalt for a few miles...

    Grainy toning kind of like the Cents that get the wooden look.

    Kind of looks like "tab toning" Idk what kind of holder these came in but, I guess it could be possible for this one

    I think it's just in the toning and the image is really bringing it out.

    It appears to me that the PCGS appraiser was asleep at the wheel. Have you checked the verification number to be sure someone has not switch the coin ?

    You can't switch a coin in a slab
