I lost 3/4 at CNG this morning but ended up near a shop I don't get to very often and picked this up on the rebound. I don't know the series or if they're commonly faked. Anybody see anything wrong with it? Thanks
I don't like the look of it. Check forgerynetwork http://www.forgerynetwork.com/asset.aspx?id=74JNYO4HK4Y=
I have a small version: ISLAND OFF THRACE THASOS AR Trihemiobol OBVERSE: Satyr running left in three-quarter view, holding kylix REVERSE: ΘΑΣ − ΙΩΝ Amphora Struck at Thasos, 411-350BC 0.69g, 12 mm SNGCop 1030
It's no big deal, just return it. It happens to all of us. I recently had to tell an Alexander drachm imposter to pack its bags and get the hell out. However, we should not conflate good detail with forgeries. There is an abundance of authentic coins with spectacular detail.
I know you're right, I just had a gut feeling, no pun intended, that the abs were just a bit over the top.
