have you hear this?. it is the early silver coinage from malaysia and singapore. and other part of those islands. such as sarawak and brunei. all these four became independence after world war II from british commonwealth. i got few of it. it is hard to find.
Straits Settlements & Sarawak silver coins are very difficult to find.I even have difficulty in finding some of the copper as well.I was very lucky to have picked up the 1863 Sarawak 1/4 Cent, the Bruneian AH1304 (1887) 1 Cent,& the 1933H Sarawak 1/2 Cent. All these coins are sought after by British Commonwealth coin collectors. Aidan.
It is not too terribly difficult to find. If you happen to tour around Malaysia, that is where you can buy such coins quite cheaply. I went there as a student and quite a fair bit of the coins are considered cheap. The thing is, not too many people would travel all the way just to buy coins. Would you bother to go there just for the sake of buying Straits Settlement coins? Will post what I have later.
Check out worldcoingallery under Malaya, Malaysia related: http://www.worldcoingallery They will bring you to the same page.
Brunei 1304 "Satu Sen" (1 Cent) Is listed below , and also it's legend is translated : http://members.tripod.com/~GILAD_ZUCKERMAN/matauang_tanpa_harga.html#BRUNEI
They've always been very popular with British Commonwealth coin collectors, but they're becoming difficult to find,as they're being snapped up by the collectors in both Malaysia & Singapore. Aidan.
Is that so? That's no good. No good at all. I've always really wanted one of the early, full size dollars. I guess I better try to find one sooner rather than later.
straits settlements i got one silver dollar of straits settlements (smaller than us dollar). i wish it could have been a dollar size. the philippine silver pesos dated 1907 to 1912 is also like straits settlements dollar.
Elaine, those small Straits Settlements $1 coins are very hard to find.Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL,as there are forgeries of these coins. The soapy grey colour is the biggest giveaway sign indicating a dud. Aidan.

I've got quite a few Strait Settlement coins including a 1887 and 1896 10 cent silver, a 1919 1 cent, and a 1920 1 cent in AU-UNC. I have seen a bunch at the local shows here (Western New York). Fred
