Congratulations Les. Very nice 1976 $2 San Francisco Star, with great eye appeal.

My latest 2013 Star. These are harder to find in uncirculated condition then you would think. $50 Dallas Star

My latest, an early $1 Silver Cert. I love the feel of early Silver Certificates. The texture of the paper and minor paper waves of the damp intaglio printing has a feeling all its own. Great eye appeal too.

Not sure what I did to cause my post above to look that way, but. . .

Anyone want to guess how they graded?

A couple more nice ones from the coin show today, prices quite low and just could not say no, so brought them home.

Just got back from a cruise to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Seems they might have changed their notes since I was there a few years ago. Managed to pick up a few. Vanuatu 200 Vatu - AA 14607841.jpg Vanuatu 1000 Vatu - AB 14050196.jpg New Caledonia 500 Francs - 127691C8.jpg

I'll post pictures after I get the graded Notes back from PMG, but the grades are 53 EPQ and 55 EPQ.

Although we are always hoping to hit the proverbial home run, I'm very happy with those grades. I can only hope to be in such good shape when I reach the same age!! ;)

@SteveInTampa As always, I appreciate your expert advice about getting these Notes graded. I feel good about doing my part to help preserve them.

Picked up this note for a couple of reasons... first I thought it was REALLY cool looking and a bit different in design than the other notes in my collection so it really caught my eye. The clincher was that one of the signatures is a family name (surprise! my last name isn't really Topaz) so that was an added bonus :)

Picked up this nice legal tender note for a wonderful price. Really happy about this one as it is one of two remaining small size legal tenders that is missing in my collection:

here a interesting piece I just acquired. Im putting together sets of WW2 and japan occupation notes and found this.

this is from the interesting website I found later talking about the Military Guerrilla groups there in WW2.

Walter Cushing, part owner of the Rainbow gold mines in Abra Province, was the first to organize a guerrilla force. The first recorded guerrilla action took place on New Years Day, 1942.

This caught the attention of Col. John P. Horan, Commanding Officer of the 43rd Infantry Philippine Scouts. Cushing was given a commission of Major, and upon the fall of Bataan his unit was designated the 121st Infantry by Gen. Wainwright.

Maj. Cushing died 19 Sep 1942 when he was wounded in a Japanese ambush. Rather than surrender, he saved his last bullet for himself.

This note was issued in 1917 as Notgeld. The reason I purchased it was, the city Gottingen is where my daughter-in-law is from. Her entire family through 6 or 7 generations has lived there. Last year we went to an old well on the outskirts near her home. The well was recorded in the city's records back in 907. That's over 1100 years ago. People thought the world was flat then. 500 years later the city issued its first dated coinage in 1410. P1010398.JPG
