Weighing just 0.9 g., this coin is likely to have been made of silver and then plated with gold during the early Fatimid reign in Egypt. I would kindly like to know the denomination and the name of the Caliph, if possible. Thank you.. FalGol R 001.jpg FatGol O 001.jpg

Don't show this to Paddy. He likes those off strikes.

Clearer photos would be better but I think it is Abu 'Ali Mansur al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, AH 386-411/ AD 996-1021. The 2-line legend at center in the lower photo appears to read al-Hakim bi-amr Allah / amir al-mu'minin. My sources (SICA, Album) do not separate the silver coins of this reign into denominations. They were apparently traded by weight. "Fractional dirham" is probably appropriate. This example seems to have been gold plated either for use as jewelry or to pass as a quarter-dinar.

Very interesting coin. I am always impressed how someone on CoinTalk will know the attribution of almost any coin people post. Has CoinTalk community ever been stumped by a coin in legible condition that anyone remembers?

Not in my recollection. It seems we have enough members to cover every specialty.
