I don't come across many good die cracks on these, but I actually received both of these coins in the mail on the same day. Maybe they are meant to be kept together after all these years apart? They also both have a slight die clash on the Indian's neck.
I've seen on of these listed as a retained cud error with ngc once.. would this qualify, or is it just a die crack?
I thought that the cud was an actual piece of broken die on the rim causing a raised area of metal. I'm seeing just a die crack. And these are 2 different coins? If so pretty neat how the crack is damn near the same.
Yes, 2 different coins, both purchased from separate sellers, both arrived on the same day. I did not even notice the die cracks in the sellers pictures. I thought it was pretty funny myself. I think they were minted one after another, and they have finally been reunited! That is my story at least, haha.
Since we can't see it reach the rim the rim at either end of the crack on either coin, we cannot believe so. Looks like a reasonable assumption that they're from the same die; with a mintage under 600k there couldn't have been many die pairs involved.
