So, I love these commemorative's so I bought the coins and didn't want to worry about the slabs. They look just like any other pr70 dcams but am concerned they were graded by USCG. I did get them at great prices!
They look nice. I don't think the big boys would have graded them the same and you're right to be concerned. If the price was right. My favorite is the eagle, I like that design.
@skully88 No, they don't look like any other PF70. I can see a lot of little flecks on the surfaces. Some of those may be dust particles, but I'll bet that some of them are tiny nicks. Who cares if they were graded by the United States Coast Guard! Chris
Chris (USCG) beat me to it. Nice looking coins Skully, but I don't think you'd net a '70 grade at any of the big three. The Ike is a 'looker' and I can see it easily scoring a '69.
I agree. The second coin especially looks a little "baggy", but could be the slab. To me, any slab is simply an opinion of grade, one which I may or may not agree with. At least with the majors, you can rely on a slabbed coin as being genuine.
Neither one is a 70 but those are two with great designs in the series. Hopefully no premium at all was paid for the holder.
I agree with the general sentiment. They're not 70's, but if you paid a decent price AND you like the coins, all is well. Enjoy them...
I do not think you got ripped; but I do not think you ripped them off. I sometimes have to wonder what a MS70 coin really is
That was a fair price, they just charged you as if they were raw which for all intensive purposes they are
I agree with those above me: Neither is PF70, but you paid a decent price for them. If you sent them to NGC or PCGS they would come back between PF67 and PF69. The cameo on the Eisenhower is nice.
Well, the Ike originally sold for $29 ($25 pre-issue) and the Olympic dollar sold for $28 so you did rather well............untill you factor in inflation.
Medoraman, I have heard this term used before, "baggy" How and what is baggy? What is it you are seeing that makes you say that compared to a normal one? Could you please define that for me?
