It's the rim on the coin it's not like other 1993p Notice on this 1993p the rounded edges on the rim I've heard slanging talk for this coin as being referred to as a fhin this is only the second one I've ever seen and the first time I've heard it referred to as a fhin I know it's a well circulated cent and this is only my observation if the original RIM that I'm showing you was caused by something else I believe the uniformity would not be there but this is only my opinion and observation
They are all possibilities but I think I'll keep this one in my oddities collection Thanks for your quote
Typically finning occurs when the force applied by the coining press forces metal into the very thin gap between the die and collar. The resulting fin usually is very thin and sharp and just a little circulation will break it off. I believe the photo of your coin is showing instead, a collar clash.
Could be a dryer coin with a collar clash too I suppose as it doesn't quite look like an encased cent. Either way it's not much but sure, throw it in with your oddities
http://www.error-ref.com/finning/ http://www.error-ref.com/collar-clash/ I would like to note that the above site talks about a reeded collar clash, it also states that is because it is easier to see. Collar clashes happen on all coins, reeded or smooth collar. Other sites explain this better.
